"Don't Ditch That Tech" was an inspiring book to read through. After reading through it I got that feeling I usually get after leaving a good PD at CUE. "I want to try this out now!!" is the feeling I am getting after this. There are many things that I wish to improve on. According to the survey, I am a "Restaurant Owner." This was pretty spot on. I do enjoy teaching the use of different tools and allowing the students to choose the medium to show their understanding. My goal this year is to slowly but surely move myself to the Creative Art Coach. Allowing the students to have more choice in the content they wish to pursue. I will like to have technology play the role of being a tool for the student to explore their interests. I have an idea of using the TED talk Prompt from the book and creating a mini-TED talk symposium at the school at the end of the year. Allow the students to choose their topic and medium to present their topic. A nice little way for the students to showcase the skills they learned and mean the most to them. And the largest thing that I hope to keep consistent is having the student maintain a Journal of reflections. The program that I use called Code.org has time delegated for students to reflect on the work they did in the day. I have just been inconsistent as to the medium the students use to record these reflections. I will cycle between the mediums this year in the first trimester, and then allow students to choose their medium thereon.
