The topic of our inquiry is League of Legends!!!!!! League of Legends is a team-based strategy game where two teams of five powerful champions face off to destroy the other’s base. Choose from over 140 champions to make epic plays, secure kills, and take down towers as you battle your way to victory. We are inquiring how metrics such as Kill to Death (K:D) ratio might affect a team’s win rate. We plan to explore the statistics of 8 different teams competing in the upcoming GLL Masters 2021 Spring Tournament in order to analyze trends between game aspects and wins.

When analyzing data, we will organize information according to each team. We will then create bar graphs to explore which aspects of game performance are more likely to determine the game outcome.
WLGaming Esports seems most likely to win this tournament. Destroying the first tower is, and has been, the meta for playing League of Legends and recreational players even plan on forfeiting immediately after they lose first tower. Although they have the second highest win rate, WLGaming Esports shows the most consistency in destroying first tower (table 1), which we can see is the game aspect that most likely leads to a victory.
CowBoySquad Imperials Esports seems most likely to lose the first round in this tournament. This team has the lowest first tower rate and it is not surprising that they have the lowest win rate as well.
Based on the data it seems that a team destroying a tower first is directly affecting a team's ability to win in a game. There is an outlier in Gamespace Mediterranean College Esports who does not seem affected by their ability to destroy the first tower. This team may be focusing solely on attaining buffs for the end game during the beginning throws of battle, which can be seen in “Dragons killed per game”. And it could be argued to be the best strategy because they have the highest win rate.
Teams with high tower kill vs low towers losses had a higher win ratio. While the teams with high towers losses vs low tower kills had a low win ratio. Teams who are not able to defeat towers are not able to successfully win the game.
How is it possible for teams to lose when they have a higher K:D than their opponents?
How might a higher GPM affect a team’s performance?
How essential is slaying the Baron Nashor to win the game?
How does Gamespace Mediterranean College Esports maintain a high win rate with the third lowers first tower rate?
